Cambridge students’ support of the Nanjing Youth Olympics

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Cambridge on a summer Sunday welcomed the delegation of Nanjing Youth Olympics. With the support of CEEDS, the delegation held a lively event in front of King’s College, to promote the coming Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international sports, education and cultural festival for teenagers around the world. Like the Olympics, it holds both Summer Games and Winter Games every four years. The first Summer Youth Olympics was held in Singapore, and the first Winter Games was in Innsbruck, Austria. This summer, the second Youth Olympics will be held from 16 to 28 August in Nanjing, with the participants representing 204 countries and regions.

In this promotion, delegations and CEEDS members spread a large banner right in the city centre of Cambridge. To interested passers-by, they introduced the coming Youth Olympics, its motto and importance and expressed Nanjing’s strong wish to welcome guests from all parts of the world. Hours of promotion attracted the attention of thousands, who signed on the banner and wished the Games all the best. In the end, delegation and CEEDS members, with enthusiastic passers-by took a group photo in front of Cambridge’s historic King’s College.
